Stuff to Read: Tommy Hanson's Velocity (7/17/2012)
It’s been a crazy month here at Driveline Baseball – clients have been pouring into our Remote Consultation program and many (good) changes have been happening at our facility. Here’s some stuff to read that might keep you occupied!
- Tommy Hanson’s Mechanical Changes – My newest article over at The Hardball Times; I took a look at Hanson’s mechanical changes, lost velocity, and how it all ties together.
- Correlation of Throwing Velocity to the Results of Lower Body Field Tests… – Long article title, I know, but well worth checking out. My friend Graeme Lehman (who has his own blog) published this paper as part of his post-graduate work. Really emphasizes the need for lateral training in baseball pitchers!
- Craig Kimbrel’s Overpowering Fastball – With Kimbrel of the Braves dominating once again (16 k/9, 2.5 bb/9, really?), it’s worth checking this blog post out about his legendary work ethic when he was younger. Who else do you know would go to football fields and throw long toss from his knees because his lower leg was shattered into pieces?
Speaking of all the new Remote Consultation clients – we’re rolling out our new velocity development program for clients who can’t train at our facility on a full-time basis. I hope to be able to share some awesome results with everyone in the near future! Of course, we’re still collecting data from our free weighted baseball training program we’ve made available here, so if you haven’t checked that out, go do so – the off-season is rapidly approaching!
