Description

Weighted Bat Speed Trainers

A Durable Set of Weighted Bats and a Step-by-Step Program for Increasing Bat Speed

The Axe Bat Speed Trainers give you all the tools and knowledge you need to increase bat speed, improve barrel control, and hit the ball farther. Axe Bat’s patented Axe Handle is the only handle designed to support the mechanics of the swing. It follows the natural contours of your wrist and palm, giving you a more stable grip and allowing you to maintain precise control of your barrel, even while swinging at maximum effort. This is key to the system as overload/underload training is most effective when proper swing fundamentals can be maintained throughout.

Bat Durability from an Engineered Hitting Zone

Anyone who has done a serious weighted bat training program knows how easily underload bats can dent or break, even from just tee or front toss work. Because of the Axe Bat handle design, these training bats are specifically reinforced to allow for years of hits.

Because the point of contact is known, the barrel can be strategically reinforced
Because the point of contact is known, the barrel can be strategically reinforced

All three Axe Bats feature reinforced alloy or composite barrels, engineered for strength and durability with one-sided hitting. Rest assured, you can use the speed trainers for tee work or front toss drills without compromising barrel integrity.

Hitters at Driveline swing either exclusively Axe Bats, or they train using a mix of Axe handles and round-knob game bats. Carry-over from one handle to the other has not been an issue in either performance or comfort.

The subgroup of hitters that trained with Axe Bats in our study, but tested with round-knob bats performed slightly worse than the all Axe Bat group, but not at a significant level.

Everything we see points towards hitters who train with Axe Speed Trainers experiencing improvements, regardless of what handle-style their game bat may be.

Bat Speed Training Program

Driveline Baseball’s bat speed program serves as the perfect complement. Developed using the latest concepts in overload-underload training, this program is backed by independent research as well as studies conducted in our fully configured biomechanics lab.

These Axe Bat Speed Trainers come with easy-to-follow drills, illustrations, instructions, and a clearly defined training schedule for implementing all three weighted bats. Driveline Baseball Axe Bat Speed Trainer Program Example

This is the elite training program you need to swing the bat faster and hit the ball harder for next season.

Unlock your fastest, most efficient swing with the Axe Handle. Train using methods drawn from the same research, rigor, and discipline that has characterized our highly successful pitching velocity program.

Why the Axe Bat Handle?

The Axe Bat handle is gaining traction with Mookie Betts, Dustin Pedroia, Carlos Correa, George Springer, and Kurt Suzuki all using axe-handled bats during the 2021 season.

For us, the decision to adopt axe-handled training bats came down to the improvements in training effect and bat performance that could be achieved with the Axe Bat handle.

From a UCLA biomechanical analysis of hitters swinging Axe Bats versus conventional bats, Dr. Vijay Gupta confirmed:

“The biomechanical study on these features, when compared to traditional round bat handles, confirms that the Axe handle:

  1. Creates additional bat rotational speed by adding force over a greater swing angle

  2. Delivers more efficient power from the hands to the bat, through reduced tension

  3. Improves performance based on bat handle kinematics and enhanced grip stability

  4. Improves bat control and reduces pain by controlling the velocity of oscillations which hammer the knob between the fingers and hypothenar area of the palm

  5. Reduces hamate bone and ulnar nerve injuries, and incidents of thrown bats, by removing localized pressures from the hypothenar region.” See the study in more detail here

  6. Is more comfortable
